Word not deleting temp files

I've seen this question asked, but have no seen a solution.

I have a user runinng Win98SE and the Works Suite 2002. Word is not
deleting temporary files it creates, so she's seeing ~$ type files in
her directory.

It's a simple Win98SE setup, there's no server with permissions
involved or anything.

Any idea on a fix for this?
