Word not opening files from other than File | Open

Word TRIES to open the .DOC but fails!

Word half-way stopped opening .DOC files UNLESS you open
the file right from within Word itself by using the Open
command on the File menu.

Double-clicking on a .DOC file (in Explorer, for example)
does start Word BUT opens Word to a blank screen, the
desired file does not open!

You have to open Word then use the menu system there to
open it.

I assume it is something I can fix (in "My Computer"
or "Windows Explorer") under:

View | Folder Options | File Types

Then fixing the OPEN command screen. Probably something
with the DDE or quotes or something.

If some one could just put on their web site a GIF copy of
the screen showing the the OPEN commands under Word's
associations at:

View | Folder Options | File Types

I could just copy yours to fix mine!

I tried that and it worked for a day. I had to re-
register Word again so I assume now something is causing
it to unregister at some point.
