Processor: Intel

Word will not save my document. when I try to save an error message appears stating something like " the save failed - memory or storage insufficient."

My HD has 93 GB available
Activity Monitor indicates I have 2 GB (of the 4 I have installed) available.

Any ideas out there? This is starting to happen more and more.

Hello -

The first point to keep n mind is that Word - or any other program - doesn't
do the saving... It simply provides the user a means of caling the OS to
save the work. If there's a problem getting it done the system feeds back an
error message that displays the problem & since it appears as it does it
gives the impression that the program is causing the problem.

Make sure that Office (12.1.2) & OS X (10.5.4) are fully updated. If they
are, get the 10.5.4 COMBO Update rom the Apple Downloads site as well as any
hardware/firmware updates that may be available for your Mac:

http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/

If that doesn't help try running Word from a different user account to see
if you have the same result. If not, it means there is a problem with your
main user account which you'll need to resolve. If the problem occurs in the
other account...

Try doing a simple Repair Disk Permissions, shut down the Mac & see if the
problem persists when you boot up again. If it does, start up from your OS X
install disk & run the Repair Disk [not Repair Disk Permissions] utility. If
it finds any errors run it repeatedly until it reports no errors found.

Nah - In fact I had my MBP out on the deck along with the coffee but my
AirPort connection was intolerably weak & the "send" got sent to the Outbox
when the server connection timed out. As a matter of routine I later hit
Send/Receive All & it got popped a second time. Oh, well 8-}

I have just downloaded a large document in rtf format and it displays fine on the screen of my macbook pro -- and I already saved three other rtf documents to a particular file.

But now this document shows that it is saving and then at about one-half way through the save function does not save and I get no save and no error message either.

Maybe I should just re-name the document in the other file and then move it rather than do a Save As.

Does anyone have any thoughts?
