word not starting

when I start Word the window on the desktop shows up but
will not open. but if go to the profile screen it will
say 1 program running but it will not open. If it is the
very first time starting it will ask if I want to start
in safe mode but I see a note at bottom of doc page that
says scanning for virus but I cannot use the doc page at
all. What do you think the problem might be?

I suggest uninstalling and reinstalling Word.
