Word not working. HELP!!!!!

I purchased microsoft office 2000 professional, installed
it and all the programs work except for word.

When I click to open the word program, it comes on the for
about two to three seconds then a smaller window pops up
and says, "preparing to install". The smaller window then
disappears and then the entire word program closes as well.

What am I doing wrong? What can I do?

Gday,

sounds to me that you have ms's "install on demand"
happening - you will need the CD and reinstall office -
when you get to customise, click on MS office and select
run all from my computer. That way all the required files
are locally installed and you will not need to install
later.
