I'm not sure if I'm reporting a bug or making a suggestion, but when
you are using the Notebook template in Entourage, you can't use the
Alignment and Spacing in the Formatting Palette. You can switch views
to ŒPage Layout' and then justify the text, then return to the
Notebook layout. Perhaps someone has some insight into this matter.
I'm not sure either.... Especially when you say you are using a "Notebook
template in Entourage?"
If you are talking about Entourage, then yes, you should be able to use the
toolbar pallet if you create (or edit) a new note. There is no "page layout"
view in Entourage note however, so maybe you are talking about the new
Notebook layout view of Word? I don't think it's intended to have all types
of styles available in that view. That's why it's a notebook view. You take
quick notes, record voice, etc. If you want more style choices, go to
another view.
From the "what's new" readme regarding Word:
Microsoft Word 2004 introduces notebook layout view, the new way to capture
your thoughts and ideas in the equivalent of an electronic notebook. With
notebook layout view, you can:
€ Organize and search your notes.
€ Flag notes for follow-up.
€ Assign tasks.
€ Attach audio recordings to your notes by using your computer's
built-in microphone or a microphone connected to your computer.
Use notebook layout view to take meeting or lecture notes, gather research
materials, and more.
From Word 2004 help:
Some commands and toolbars are missing when I'm working in notebook layout
view.
Some commands and toolbars are not available when you are working in
notebook layout view. Try switching to another view. On the View menu, click
a new view.
If you think there should be more options under that view, then send
feedback using the "Send feedback of Word" from the "Help" menu.
