Every time I shut down word it says normal has changed do I want to save it
I did a search and deleted normal
Now it wont let me open Word documents

John, I'd go to the trashcan and restore that bad boy.

Never delete normal.dot without knowing what you are doing. It's a key
file. Not so much if you've not done much customizing, but if you have,
deleting this file puts you back to "out of the box" Word.
