WORD only knows A4 pagesetup

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

Since today the paper format is A4 and does not change by no means. In the PageSetup box I choose e.g. US letter, it stands there written, but in reality it ist A4.

What setup or pref file should I throw away???

If you're talking about the settings in File> Page Setup - Paper Size,
that's controlled by your printer driver. Word only calls for the dialog
from the OS. It "could" be a preference file but not necessarily.

If your selection isn't being honored the first to check is that you have
Office fully updated *and* that you've checked the mfr's site to see if
there is an update available for your printer driver. Even if no driver
update is available, drivers corrupt far more frequently than applications,
so reinstalling the driver may well fix the problem.

Once all that is in order come back if the problem continues.
