Word opening docs as read only

I have a user who is having a problem with Word XP opening documents read
only. When she first opens a .doc file from a network share on a win2k sp4
server it will open read only, even though the doc is not opened by anyone
else. But if she closes the .doc and then re-opens it imediately after it
opens up with full write access.
Anyone have any ideas on this or should I be posting in the server
newsgroup. It doesn't happen with any other app on that computer.

Anti-virus scanning the document perhaps? Norton Office plugin come to
mind, maybe others also.
