Word opens 2 windows instead of just 1 !

Hi

My microsoft word (Office2003, all latest patches) has started opening
2 windows instead of just one when you open it.

I have run "Detect and Repair" but that doesnt fix the problem.

What happens is whenever you open word using the icon that Microsoft
install on your
desktop, instead of opening just ONE window, it always opens TWO. And
the one that it
leaves you in is a blank one that you just have to close in order to
continue...

....Any suggestions?!

Strangely enough it even happens when I open the file winword.exe
directly.
Detect and repair didnt help.
And neither did running the scandisk utility on the HD

It gets worse!

I just uninstalled msWord completely.
And then RE-installed it - and behold! the same problem. :[
Whenever I open msWord (Office 2003) it opens an extra blank window
which has to be closed before I can work on the msWord window proper.

I then ran "sfc /scannow" which is supposed to copy up any windows
files from my WindowsXP (SP2) disk.

But STILL the same problem. An extra, blank window whenever I open
msWord!

In as sense it doesnt matter - but this is a pretty new installation
of WindowsXP.

Do you think my Registry is corrupted?!
If so what should I do about it?
