Word opens in small window afterdisconnecting from a large monitor

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel After hooking up to a 30" external monitor) MS Word opens all my documents in a small (~ 300X400px) window. Using sizeup on this window can only make it smaller, not larger.

I've tried using the maximizing button, resizing it with the corner drag, etc. but I cannot make it larger.

I searched and found others have the same problem, but haven't found a solution,

Any ideas on what I can do to fix this and keep it from happening in the future?

The only thing I can suggest is "log off before switching monitors" :)

I discovered that if I use 'Display Preferences' to change the resolution of the display on my laptop, then it resets the defaults for the MS Word window size. I can then change the resolution back to the regular settings and everything remains 'fixed.'

I have the EXACT same problem! And I know it happens to my friend as well.

It happens occasionally after I unplug my external monitor. The only
solution I've found is to quit Word and restart the program. I don't have
this problem with any other program, so I'm pretty sure it has something to
do with Word. I haven't used any of the other Office products much, so I'm
not sure if it also affects Excel or not.

Why doesn't Microsoft fix this???
