Word opens old document every time i open it! Help!

Hi there everyone. I am running Word 2000 and I wrote a document about
a week ago and saved it and was done with it. Now when I open word,
the words from the document open up every time even though it's a new
document "Document 1". I delete the file from my hard drive and it
still does the same thing. How do I get rid of this? Also, everything
defaults to save as teh name of the file that i delete. What gives?
Thank you in advance for your time!

From the FAQ:

28. My blank document has text in it - an old letter, etc. See
