Word Opens Slowly

John

I'm reposting this from another newsgroup, to see if
anyone else has an idea. When I open Word 2002, it comes
up slowly, then appears without the ruler, and if I click
File at this point, it goes full screen, and then slowly
comes back to a new document. Sometimes doing this
freezes it. However if I wait, it finally opens on its
own. If I open with winword.exe /a, it works perfectly
fine. I tried deleting temp files, deleting normal.dot,
deleting the data registry key, and checking for add-ins
at Tools/templates, or for Com add-ins, as I was
directed. Nothing makes a difference. Any thoughts on
what I could be missing to fix this?

That it works OK with the /a switch indicates that you are missing an
add-in, macro, com add-in or some other third party influence on Word. Check
them all again.

There is nothing in the Add in window. What possible
third party software could do this, and how do I find it?

I already checked the add-ins and COM add-ins.
Interestingly, after deleting temp files, data registry
key, and normal. dot, I never say ANY Add ins ever
listed. I suspect Adobe or Symantec has left something
somewhere, but how do I find it if it isn't in these add-
in windows?
