Word opens some files and closes them immediately

After installing office upgrades my system was running OK then suddenly when
I open certain files, Word opens and displays the file contents, then it
closes immediately whithout you being able to do anything.

Are you talking about Updates or a Version Upgrade? If it is the latter,
make sure that you have all updates installed and if you have Norton Anti
Virus, turn off the Office Plug-in in NAV. Then run a cleanup of your PC:

have the latest printer driver installed by checking with the manufacturer's
internet support site.

Finally, if the documents still abort, try using the File, Open, select the
document and choose Open and Repair.

I've got all the updates, th PC is new under XP pro,on a domain network, and
I'm still experiencing the unatended close of documents, thos docs are
opening perfetcly and working normaly on another computer with exactly the
same configuration, the only difference is the user using it and his
associated profile (the one with problems has migrated from a win 98 computer)
