word opens then closes right away

I am having a problem with word on xp. It use to work
fine now as soon as I open it, it closes again. I can't
seem to get it to stay open. I have uninstalled it and re
intsalled it to no avail. anyone got an answer for me?
please help!

It's probably either a) corrupted normal.dot or b) corrupted registry
entries. Neither is fixed by uninstalling/reinstalling. Take a look here:
