Word Outlining

I jut purchased a new windows XP computer and am
preparing an outline in word. The automatic outline
functions do not work. The numbers do not line up in a
straight line as they should. Sentences do not come back
automatically where they should on auto returns.

Also, if you want the numbers to align on the period or other punctuation
following them, you have to either set the numbers to "Right" if you're
using outline number (and if you are, be sure you set it up as detailed in
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/OutlineNumbering.html) or set a
right tab stop and tab to it for the number, then tab again after the number
to start typing the text.
