Word Page Numbering

Hi:

I have a friend who has written a book, but apparently forgot to number
the pages. Is there any simple way that he can now go back and number the
pages?

I do not know the exact version of MS Word that he has, but his computer
is about 3 years old.

Any help will be appreciated.

Insert | Page Numbers is certainly the quickest way.

The recommended approach is to click View | Header and Footer; this
activates the header/footer view. You can then use the Header and Footer
toolbar to insert page numbers directly into the header (or footer).

And note that every page should be numbered only if this is a book
*manuscript*. If he's intending to print a book from the pages he generates,
then there are additional complexities; see
