Word->pdf->trash ? ?

I've recently seen a weird change to the name of Word files saved as pdf
files.

If I save a MS Word doc to pdf (select Print and then Save as pdf), the
resulting pdf file name is fine. It is the original name with the pdf
extension.

However, if I then move that file to the trash, the name changes and it
adds something like "11-49-53" between the name and the extension pdf.

Anyone seen or can explain this?

Just tried it here--did not see that. OS 10.3.9, Office 2004 11.2.1

What's your OS version (and Office)?

Might you have something with the same name already in the trash, and the OS
is adding an identifier?

Is this causing problems in any way, or are you just curious?

I see it sometimes (Word 2004, OS 10.4.3). Not sure of the cause yet.

Presumably, if the file is now in trash, you don't actually want it
anyway, so the name doesn't really matter?

MS Word vX 10.1.0

Nope.
And did it with some other docs but not all. I'm trying to determine if
the ones that did started as Word 5.1a docs. But not sure if that
matters since they've been saved as Word vX docs.

Presumably, but then again the reason I found this was that I retrieved
a file from the trash and put it back on Desktop and then found the
strange name.

IIRC, this came up as a nomination of the file name when saving, but I can't
be sure. It wasn't associated with the Trash, and it wasn't associated with
a former Word 5.1 document.
