Word Perfect Conversion

I am using vista and Word 2007. When I open a Word file from a person who
created part of the document using Word Perfect and then converted it, I get
occasional strange characters, as in $ where there should be a bullet, also =
instead of ' , some upside down As etc. Others can open the document without
errors.

Likely these characters are in the WP Typographic Symbols font, which you
don't have installed. You can either install the font (which will just
prolong the agony) or find and replace the characters with ones from the
Default Paragraph Font.

Just to put your mind at ease. I am experiencing the same problem as well.
I've simply learned to except these idiosyncracies as "gremlins" and remind
myself that this is why I am trying to move out of the word perfect world.
Therefore search and replace.
