hi pl
Our office normally uses Word Perfect templates and we insert/merge data
files to create legal documents. How can we, without recreating the wheel,
now use Word 2007 to create the same legal document without losing the merge
template in conversion. Please Help!!!!!!!!
chances are, you cannot.
Caveat: I've never used WP for any work at all. But many before you have
(had to) switch(ed) from there to Word, and many did struggle. There are
articles up on the MVP site:
WordPerfect to Word converters (and why none of them are perfect, by Hafiz)
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/WordPerfectConverters.htm
How Word differs from WordPerfect (by John McGhie)
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/WordVsWordPerfect.htm
Those have been written way before the time of Word 2007. I couldn't say
whether Word 2007 is more alike to WP than Word 2003 -- but I very much
doubt it.
Sure, there are converters out there. But that's OK for a document, if
you need a quick job. Because of fundamental differences in application,
you may achieve a good result with it, but usually this means you are
not using the new program as it is intended to be, and thus loose a good
deal.
