Word performance with tables

Anybody else run into this...

I have two users on 98 machies using Word 97 and whenever
they go into the table in a document, Word slowes to a
crawl.

Help!!!!

How _big_ a table in how big a document? What is the RAM on these machines?
While Word 97 will run on a 32Mb machine it is a lot peppier on a machine
with 128Mb. Memory is cheap.
