Word just permanently changed its view of my documents! How to change
back?
Using Word 97 SR-1 on Win98
Was viewing documents at 100% using page layout and manually centering
documents vertically on page.
Historically, when viewing the top of the document, the white of the
simulated page just almost touched whatever on the screen. Plus, the
top of the vertical bar exactly lined up with the white of the
simulated page.
I manually centered by measuring on the screen at 100% size. The
printouts followed very nicely. AND, again, the top [grayed out
section] of the left vertical bar [indicator of position on page]
exactly lined up with the white of simulated page.
Just once, I tried using Page Setup/ Layout/Vertically Center, didn't
like the effect and changed back to TOP
That action, suddenly, and permanently, has now changed the view on
Word?? AND has now moved the left bar down along with white of the
top of the simulated page [and not lining up with each other]. The
problem is, the top of the vertical bar no longer lines up with the
top of the white plus there's more than a quarter inch of space to the
horizontal tab/indicator bar along the top.
And now, centering on the white field of view is slightly off by that
shift difference between the vertical bar's top and the white of the
simulated page!
Help! How do I get back to the way Word was before I ruined Word by
trying to use the Page Layout Centering function?
