Word permissions problem

Created a Word X document which Word refused to save, citing a file
permissions problem. Older Word documents save without a problem.
System-wide permissions repair does not cure the glitch. (OS is 10.3.6)
Document saved successfully as rich text doc, but not as Word doc. Same
problem with successive new docs. MS support so complex to access it's
no help. This happened once before and I had to trash the document, as
I recall. Any help out there?

Two things tend to induce these problems:
- Allow fast save is enabled in the preferences (just disable it)
- You are saving directly on a server.

Would that be the case here ??

I disabled Fast Save and created a doc, which Word saved without a
complaint. So that appears to have solved the problem (although
glitches do tend to hide somewhere and reappear at awkward moments on
computers). Many thanks.

You're very welcome. Fast save is nothing but trouble for me. I ALWAYS
disable it.
