Word & pictures

Jude

I am running Microsoft Office XP Professional. I am writing a business
report in Word and have created a picture for the front cover in Photoshop
which I have saved as a jpeg file. I have successfully imported the picture
into my Word document. I want the picture to fill the entire page. When I
view the document on the screen, it appears that my picture does fill the
entire page. However, when I print it, I have a small margin all around the
picture. I have tried to set the picture layout to 'in line with text' and
tight and have reduced my side margins to 0 and my top and bottom margins to
below zero, but it has not made any difference. Can anyone advise me on what
to do?

Regards
Jude

Hello Jude,

You've landed in a group that handles Mac versions of Word, but that's not a
problem in this case.

It isn't that your printer, like most, won't print to the edge of the paper?
If not, please post back.

As Clive suggests, PC or Mac, most printers that deliver "Borderless Prints"
only do so on paper sizes smaller than letter. They typically don't print
edge-to-edge on anything larger than 5x8 stock.

Depending on the printer you may be able to "fool" it by specifying one of
the Photo Quality Paper settings rather than regular paper. However, that
also causes the printer to ink the stock differently which may render
unacceptable results on non-photo paper (and may even adversely affect the
printer if it applies ink/toner off the edge of the page where it isn't
really intended to go).

Other options may be available if you check the printer's User Guide or the
mfr's web site, but it will most likely require printing to a commercial
caliber device to obtain what is called a "full bleed".
