I am working on a torturous research paper and my format has to be perfect. My page numbers only print half way (they'rw on the bottom center of page. The message says something about being outside the footer range. Also, I have a place in my text that stays blank. I try to move text up into it, and it appears for a second, then jumps back down to the next page. Thanks for your help!

Your page number is half cut off because it is too low on the page, and
the printer can't print that close to the edge. In Format | Document,
increase the "Footer: from edge" setting.

Re the blank space--hit ¶ on the standard toolbar to turn on nonprinting
characters. What do you see in that space, and in the paragraphs around it?
