Word problem Office 97

Whenever I try to print using 'Word' (Office97) under WindowsXP Media Center
2005 I get a window telling me that an 'internal error has occured in Word
and the program must shutdown.'

I'm able to create/save documents but not able to print them after clicking
the print tab. If I choose to send the error report to Microsoft it tells me
they no longer provide support for it, please upgrade. Other than that it
works fine.

Should I be able to print using WinXP with Office97?

I'm trying to print using a MFC-420CN (Brother) I'am able to print using
Wordpad, Notepad and other programs just not Word 97.

If the error occurs when you print the first item to rule out is a
corrupt/incorrect printer driver. Obtain an updated driver from the
manufacturer's web site and see if that resolves it.

If I click on the 'Debug' button it states: "There is not enough space on
your PC. Make room on the hard disk by deleting some files."

Not likely since I have over 230GB of space available on my hard drive.
Again, I'm able to print with no problems other programs such as Notepad,
Wordpad, Web pages and other programs. Only Word (Office97) gives me this
problem. Any other ideas?

Did you obtain an updated printer driver as I previously suggested?
Each application uses the printer driver differently so it's still a
valid item to rule out first.

Additionally, the "not enough disk space" error is fairly generic - I
encountered it myself yesterday and disk space definitely wasn't the
cause in that case either.

I updated the drivers but I still cannot print from Word. Still gives me the
same error message: "Microsoft Word for Windows 97 has encountered a problem
and needs to shutdown, sorry for the inconvienence." clicking send the error
report takes me to a page saying Microsoft no longer supports Office 97
please upgrade.
