Word problem with Terminal Services

I'm running Office 2000 in a Terminal Services environment. I often need to
delete the contents of the templates folder because Word won't start. Along
with the file normal.dot there is also a temporary file which needs deleting
and I'm guessing it's this file that prevents Word from starting.

Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can resolve it?
