word problem

Hi
My problem is on my office 97, when i click to open a new word document i get this mesage "cannot open templates on the work group templates & location you selected".I click ok and the new office document shows, i click to open new word document the blak document shows but then i imedieatly get winword error message "this programe has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down if the p[roblem persists contact the program vendor" When iclose thi s i am left with a blank screen.

Hi Cliff,

First go to Tools/Options/File Locations and check your path for the Workgroup templates. If the location does not exist then click Modify and either change it to a new location or delete the path in the Modify dialog box to remove it.
