Word Problem

Once Word is open, my mouse will not work in the body of the text. It can
open the menus, but when I open the Word Options, I cannot use the left hand
menu options as nothing happens when I click the mouse. Also, I can use the
mouse to move the side scroll bar, provided I click on the top or bottom
arrow, but nothing happens if I click anywhere else on the scroll bar.
When I shut down Word, I get the "program has stopped working" dialog box.
I am using Word 2007 with Vista Ultimate.
I have even re-installed, with no change. I have also run repair, with no
success.

Can anyone help?

Its a corrupt Word Data Key. Run Regedit, navigate to the key and delete it.
Word will recreate a new key next time it is started.

Word DataKey

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\version number\Word\Data

That cleared everything. Word now closes quickly without a problem.
Incidently, earlier today I had tried opening Word in safe mode in the hopes
of accessing the full Word Options, with no luck, but on opening my system in
safe mode and then opening Word in safe mode, I was able to disable the Adobe
Contribute and Adobe Acrobat add-ins. This cleared up my mouse in Word, but
not the error dialog on closing Word.

Many thanks, I am now going to try and re-enable the ad-ins, in the hopes it
keeps working properly.
