"Word" program "open/close file" disabled; Fix "error"message

"Word" opens. "Open" window comes up. No response. Error message "program not
responding", with the following details. Error message sent to Microsoft
several times. I can access the file from Start>My Computer>Owner's
Documents; click on the folder and bring up the file. Please help. Thanks,
