Word Program Slow

I am running Office 2007 on Windows XP professional. I have found that my
Word program runs slow (no problem with the other programs). It is slow
opening and closing documents. When I have more than one document open it
hangs for 15-20 seconds when switching between documents. I have tried
repairing the program several times. Does anyone have any other suggestions
before I reinstall the program?

If Office Diagnostics hasnt cured the problem an uninstall/reinstall is
unlikely to help.
Are the docs located on the local PC?
Is any AV intergrated with Office?
If you run the PC in safe mode is the problem repeated?
Does it occur only in Word & not Excel?
I assume both winxp & office is updated

I had a similar problem when I was running Norton Anntivirus on my computer.
It clashed with all things Microsoft and interfered with Word. Also, if you
have another large word processor on your computer it may be clashing.
lastly, if you don't have at least a gig of RAM on your computer, chances are
it is getting bogged down. I upgraded to 1.5 gig and Word sped up like
lightning.
