Word programme repeatedly collapasing

Hello all. I open 4-6 Word documents ( Office 2003 profess. ed) plus several
other programmes at a time and work from one to the other minimising and
maximising the windows, cutting and pasting etc. This was going fine until
about a week ago. Now I continually get spontaneous crashes of my windows
programme, and have to recover all my windows documents. None of the other
programmes are affected. I have tried word detect and repair, but still get
these collapsing word problems. As all was fine until about 10m days ago I am
guessing one of those automatic updates has destabilised things.

Nope, not updates. Your experiencing corrupt Handwriting Recognition. Open
Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, select Office 2003 and chose CHANGE.

Select Add/Remove Features and then Advanced Options. Under Office Shared
Features, you will find Alternative User Input: make it Not Available.

That should resolve the spontaneous crashes. It is also safe to add the
features again.
