word prompts save as during creation of document

Every time I attempt to create a document in Word 2003, just as I'm typing
along, the save as dialog box will pop up. It will not let me cancel it, but
forces me to rename it and save it as something different. But, if this
solved it, it would be okay.... it will do this several times during the
creation of one two-page document. By the time I'm actually finished with
the document, I end up with 8 or 10 different "versions" saved in my file.
Please help as this is getting quite irritating!! Thanks. (Oh, and by the
way, in case it matters, my computer has Windows XP)

It would appear that some sort of (poorly written) "save reminder" macro is
operating. Check Tools | Macro | Macros for an AutoOpen or AutoNew macro. If
one is found, click on Edit to open the VBA Editor and see if you can figure
out what the macro does. If it appears to be the cause of this problem (and
doesn't do anything else), delete it.

Okay, I tried looking in the Tools menu... there is absolutely nothing like
what you named. So, any other suggestions?

You won't find it on the Tools menu but in the Tools | Macro | Macros
dialog.
