Word Quits Unexpectedly When Selecting a Document from the Windows Taskbar

We have tried the previously suggested method of removing the Hand
writing recognition, that has not solved our problem. It is a windows
XP laptop and when we are switching between two word documents they all
close unexpectedly. This is driving us crazy.
