Word quits when setting to German

Mac OS X Panther; Word X, SR-1.

I have three different Mac system keyboards installed, and several
documents in multipke languages.

Now I have two documents containing sections in French, English,
Spanish and German (so far so good). But with these, if I add new text
in German, then try to set language to German, Word quits. On the
other hand, if I enter text in Spanish, then set language proofing to
Spanish, everything works fine. (And remember, I already have sections
in German in these documents.)

Any ideas? Thanks.

It might be realted to the German proofing tools. IU've seen that in the
past for other languages. It all was fices with the different updates
that came out for Office since then. You should make sure Office is up
to date all the way to 10.1.5 (even the last two updates bring a few
additional fixes that are useful even if you don't use Exchange).
