Word quits when spell check is enabled

Hello all,

I have had this problem for a while now and have had no
luck on resolving it. Hopefully someone can help.

I have a couple of uses that use Office XP, and they have
all the most recent patches installed. Here's the problem:
When they work on certain Word or Excel files and have
the Spell Check feature enabled, Word or Excel either
crashes or just closes out. These files were probably
originally created by a user running Office 2000 but they
are constantly being revised. Has anyone had this problem?
