Word Reference

I am trying to take the entered value from one cell and
put an * on each side of it. I am formatting the cell for
a bar code and need the * for start and stop characters.
For example, cell c2 is a form field and the user would
enters A12345, I need cell f6 to say *A12345* as a bar
code. I have been able to use the REF command to collect
the field data but I cannot figure out how to add the
*'s. I have not used Word in many years so I am not very
familiar with it. Thanks for your help.

Hi Loretta

Just insert the asterisks as litteral text either side if your REF field (not
in the ref field. So if you turn view FieldCodes (Shift+F9 toggles this
setting) on your cell F6 will look something like this:

*{ REF FormFieldName }*

Also make sure your FormField in cell C2 has the "Calculate on exit" checkbox
checked, this ensure that the REF field will be automatically updated.
