Word reinstalls each time I try to open it

Scott

I have a PC that has been locked down by a previous technician and it is
locked down to the point that when you try to open Word it reinstalls itself.
I've looked through the registry and can't see where to modify this. I've
also looked through the group policy created and don't see where it could be
changed there either. This system has been locked down so tight you can't
even open links within a webpage....need to resolve that one too if anyone
has any ideas. I'm stumped.

Given that you've used the term 'registry', I'll take a leap and assume
you're talking about WinWord, rather than Mac Word, which is the focus
of this, the *.mac.office.word newsgroup.

You may have more luck posting in a WinWord-oriented group, like

microsoft.public.word.setup.networking

or

microsoft.public.word.application.errors

You could start here:

Hi Scott:

He has locked you out of the Registry so Word doesn't know it has been
installed :)

1) Log on as Administrator

2) Raise your normal logon user to "Administrator" privileges

3) Log out of Administrator (tis won't work if Administrator remains logged
in while you switch users)

4) Log on as the ordinary user

5) Start Word and allow it to install. While you're there, start each of
the other programs and allow them to complete their installations too.

6) Log off from the ordinary user

7) Log on as Administrator and put the privileges of the ordinary user back
down where they were.

You're good to go :)

Cheers
