Word removes leading spaces

Hi folks,

When mail merging documents, Word removes the leading
spaces from the columns. My data source is created in word.

Does anyone have a workaround ?

Thx

Ganesh

Use Edit>Replace on the data source to replace the spaces with non-breaking
spaces.

Hi Ganesh,
I'm sorry to say this,
its Word 97 :)
OK, I needed to find some time to test...

When I set up a Word TABLE, and put the data directly into
the table cells, all spaces are retained. And I also see
them in the "data form".

How did you create your data source?

ok, i'm creating the data source dynamically through Power
Builder. So my data source doesn't look like table cells,
its freeform and seperated by tab characters.

In this case, Word always strips leading and trailing spaces.
The data must be in a Word table in order to retain
leading/trailing spaces.

You could open the tab delimited file in Word, select the
records, then Table/Convert Text to Table... IF you don't
have more than 63 columns/fields.

VBA (a macro) could also handle this, to make it a bit less
painful :)
