Word replace should recognize capital letters

When doing Find and Replace in MS Word, it should recognize capital letter
differences, but it does not.

E.g.
Find and Replace "Nine" with "nine". It will not replace the previously
capitalized "Nine" with the new formatted non-capitalized "nine".

Have you tried checking "Match case" before running this Replace?

Actually, Word is already capable of what you suggest. :)

How this works depends on the options you have selected in the
Find/Replace dialog box and how you typed your "Find what" and
"Replace with" search strings.

If you want Word to match the destination case then type the "Replace
with" search string as lowercase.and *do not* turn on "Match case".
Word will then match the case of your replacement text. So if the
first letter is a capital it will replace with a capital letter and if
the word starts with a lower case letter it will replace the word with
a lower case letter.

If you type your "Replace with" text using a capital letter then Word
will replace the text accordingly. So if all you want to do is replace
capital occurrences of your search string then type both "Find what"
and "Replace with" search strings in capital letters and turn on
"Match Case" in the Find options (under the "More" command). Then Word
will only replace occurrences of capitalized words with the
capitalized search string.
