word resources low

Running Windows 98 and office 2000. The problem just
started. When I go to open Word it just
hangs.....ctrl/alt/delete gets me out but I get " The
system is dangerously low on resources, would you like to
terminate the following program Winword?" If I click on
yes I get out but then any other program I attempt to open
says "There is not enough free memory to run this program"
If I then power the system down and boot up, all other
programs then work normally. My system resources are 77%
free with 16gb remaining unused.
Sometimes I get an exception error. If you have an anwer please advis
and if you can email me at (e-mail address removed) Thanks a bunch.

This is BIZARRE - but I am having the EXACT same problem
when I go to Word, as well. I tried deleting files that I
no longer needed or used, thinking that might take care of
the problem, but to no avail. I can't acces ANY of my
Word documents or create new ones and if someone sends me
a Word attachment - the only way I can get out is to use
ctrl/alt/delete - several times.

VERY FRUSTRATING! I hope someone has an answer!

Sincerely,

Sheryl Fisher
