Word search produces error

S

Stan Hilliard

When I perform a word search on my website it produces the following
error:

"Error from search: can't open the word hash file
d:\inetpub\sites\www.samplingplans.com\web\_vti_txt\default.wti\All.dct"

What does it mean?

Stan Hilliard

PS: I use FP2000 with a dialup connection to the website provider. I
recently switched providers and went from a Unix to a Windows machine.

Try opening the site in FrontPage and recalculating the hyperlinks.

Try opening the site in FrontPage and recalculating the hyperlinks.

When I try to connect to the site with FrontPage to recalculate
hyperlinks, I get the following error message:

"Accessing HTTP servers requires 32-bit TCP/IP networking, which is
not installed or may be mis-configured. Would you like to see help on
how to install it?"

I checked my dialup properties of Win98SE and TCP/IP is installed.

When I first published my website with FP2000 to the current windows
server, I was able to then connect with FP.

What could be causing this error?

Advice will be appreciated, Stan Hilliard

Are you running McAfee Firewall?

Are you running McAfee Firewall?

No. I use ZoneAlarm firewall. I shut it down and that didn't make any
difference.

A probably unrelated thing: when I shot down the firewall I got an
error message:

VSMON caused an invalid page fault in
module <unknown> at 0000:ffffffff.

Stan:
It seems the current version of ZoneAlarm is causing havoc with some
FrontPage users - it did with me - I could not open any sites on my local
PC. You may want to try uninstalling the version of ZoneAlarm you currently
have and installing an older version - here's where you can get them:

ZoneAlarm Pro:
http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/free/information/zap/releaseHistory.html
ZoneAlarm (free):
http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/free/information/znalm/zaReleaseHistory.html

downloaded but did not install. My current firewall is v4.5.594, so
it is already not the latest.

Do you know which version was causing trouble with Frontpage?

Version 5.0.590.015 is the one that caused problems for me. So I guess
that's not it. So, I did a Google search for "VSMON caused an invalid page
fault in" and found this: http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=16528

Thanks. I guess I have more than one problem.

But since can't connect Frontpage to my website even with the firewall
shut down, that still remains a problem for me.

I was able to logon to by website with Frontpage after, as recommended
by my IPP, I applied the most recent updates to Win98 SE.

That's great news! Was one of the updates an upgrade to Windows 2000 or
Windows XP? :) Seriously, if you upgrade, you can also upgrade to
FrontPage 2003.

No, the updates were to Win98SE

(1) Flaw In Windows Media Player May Allow Media Library Access
(819639)

(2) Critical Update for ADODB.stream (KB870669)
Seriously, if you upgrade, you can also upgrade to
FrontPage 2003.

I would consider that except that I have a discussion forum in a
subweb. Right now I an using FP2000 extensions because I tried FP2002
extensions and they fowl up the formatting of messages in the forum.
FP2002 is not backward compatible with FP2000 with respect to the
forum.

Eventually I want to get a different kind of forum, but I don't have
time right now.

Then I will consider upgrading my OS and Frontpage.
