word set up error 1904

I have win 98 with word 2000 and i have just added an
epson stylus cx3200 printer scanner and copier
to my system.
When i tried scanning i got the message to set up word
from the cd which i did.
However during the set up i got the message
error 1904. module C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ODBCCONF.DLL
failed to register.
HRESULT-2147467259
what does this mean?
