Word should allow me to turn ALL automatic formatting off.

Let me turn autoformatting off.

Automatic formatting is set up by default, but it wastes my time and further
frustrates me because I can't find a way to turn it off.

In Word, click on Tools | AutoCorrect Options | AutoFormat As You Type |
uncheck the features you don't want | AutoCorrect | uncheck the
features you don't want | OK.
