Word should stick to what it knows, and that's creating office documents.
Word should not attempt to emulate desktop publishing software such as Quark
XPress or InDesign. I read your tutorial, I followed the instructions to a
"t", and I still received the same horrid results every time. I could have
created template documents within an hour if I were allowed to use Quark. I
am still trying to solve the issue of why the header isn't consistent, among
a myriad of other issues.
