Word should have a "Keep with Previous" option

Currently Word has a "Keep with Next" option in paragraph settings. This is
fine if your document has a few headers with lots of paragraphs and you want
to make sure that the first paragraph stays with the heading. You set the
"Keep with Next" option for the heading style and all is good.

But what if your document has lots of headings with just a few paragraphs
under each one and you want all of the section to be together on a page. In
other words, the heading and all the pragraphs to be on one page (if it
fits).

Doing this with the "Keep with Next" option is a real pain. You have to
have the setting on for all your paragraphs except the last one in a
sections. this mean having a seperate style for your "last" paragrash and
you have to change the style for those paragraphs and make sure your other
paragraphs are not set this is special style. Not a very intuitive or
user-friendly soution.

A "Keep with Previous" would solve the problem. This option would be on for
your "Normal" styles and off for your "Heading" styles.

I know I've seen this posted before around the web but I wanted to put the
request in one more time.

That's a ludicrous idea. It takes just a few seconds to select all the
paragraphs (including the Heading) and chose Format, Paragraph, Keep with
Next.

If that is too much work for you, add the Keep with Next (KwN) command
button to a toolbar. Alternatively - and the correct way - is to create
styles, one for the Heading and another for Body Text (both with the KwN
attribute) and a third style Body Text 2 without the KwN attribute. Assign
the styles with keyboard shortcuts as needed.

I have a multi-level list which sometimes has the lowest level (level 4) and
sometimes does not. I never want level 4 to begin a page.

If the Level 3 "Keep with Next" option is set to Yes, there will be cases
where Level 3 will stick to a following level 3 (which I don't want). "Keep
with Previous" on the Level 4 style would solve this, but since this feature
doesn't exist is there a simple workaround?

Thanks!
Dan

I'm afraid the only available workaround is what Terry has already
suggested: applying "Keep with next" as direct formatting.

I had hoped to avoid managing the paragraphs manually since content is
always changing (one day a paragraph is at the end of the page and the day
it's in the middle), but I appreciate you responding!

Thanks,
Dan
