Word should include a simple mathematical equation editor

I think a simple mathematical equation editor should be integrated with Word.

There is one. It isn't installed by default in the "quick" Office
installation. You have to check the Custom or Advanced box in the installer
(depending on what version of Office). Then you can choose individual
pieces, and the Equation Editor is listed under Office Tools.

Once it's installed, you can insert an equation with the Insert > Object
command. If you use it a lot, you can go to Tools > Customize and drag the
Equation Editor icon to a toolbar.
