Word Shutdown

When I merge contact list in OUTLOOK into WORD to print mailing labels, WORD
shuts down. If I hand type name and address to make mail label, WORD shuts
down. Otherwise WORD seems to workfine.

Try emptying your Temp folder of abandoned temp files. Then test again.
