Word Shuts Computer Down

I am running Office 2003 Pro on XP Home. I have one Word document that after
I start typing in it, it will shut my computer down completely. Other Word
docs don't , but this IMPORTANT one does. Have tried copying it into a new
doc, no luck

This is probably a corrupt document.
Have a look here: http://word.mvps.org/faqs/apperrors/corruptdoc.htm
and http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm.

Several options to try:
1. Open and Repair, in the File > Open dialog, there is a downward-pointing
arrow on the right end of the Open button. After choosing the file, click
that arrow to get a small menu. Click "Open and Repair" in that menu.
2. Copying all but the last paragraph mark into a new document.
3. Open new blank file; Insert, File.
4. If these doesn't work, try opening the document in WordPad.
5. If all else fails, go back to the Open dialog in Word and set the "Files
of type" box to "Recover Text from Any File". You'll get a lot of garbage,
but some or all of the text should be there.
Hope this helps

Thanks for all the info, seems like sooo much I thought I might narrow a
little? I am having trouble with only this one template, not all templates
and I got a totally different person with a totally different verision to
send me theirs but the results were the same, it shut my computer down after
typing a couple of minutes in it. Could it be some sort of formatting that
this document uses?

Could be specific formattting in this template that is causing you grief.
Is it only documents created from this template that cause problems and/or
opening the template itself?
If you run a Open and Repair do you get any report saying something has been
corrected?
Have you tried the Copy paste except the last paragraph mark trick? One tip,
if there is a section break in the document, it is best not to include this
in the copy, manually create a new one in the copy document, then do the next
section copy.
Sometimes there can be logical reason why a document works on one machine
and not on another.
Perserverence is the name of the game.
Tell us how it goes.

Hello,
I am new to this. I really need some help. I was working on a very important
document and I had not saved it yet, my computer re-started for an un known
reason. Is there any way in which I could recover this document?

I too have Office 2003 Pro on XP Home Edition.
