i have a win98 running office 2000 on local hard drive
while linked to a win2k network. the word app shuts down
upon launch due to performing an illegal action. went to
ms kb for solutions. found kb article 302602, which
suggested renaming mso9.dll and winword.exe with
extension .old, then insert install disc to repair.
problem is i couldn't rename either file due to file
sharing violation. tried to do the same in dos, no luck.
uninstalled office 2000, reinstalled and had no better
luck. system appeared to not even notice the app had been
uninstalled. tried to copy both files from another
functioning computer, but received the same sharing
violation. ready to reformat hard drive for win2kpro and
install office2k.
